What Are SDA Homes?

You may have arrived at our website thinking “what is SDA housing?”. SDA stands for Specialist Disability Accommodation. The term SDA housing refers to housing specifically designed for people with extreme functional impairment or complex support needs. Specifically it applies more to those who receive funding from the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and have SDA in their NDIS plan.

To be certified as SDA, the dwellings must comply with SDA design standards. These standards include a range of accessibility and safety features to help residents live more independently. They also allow support to be delivered in a better way or more safely.

Detailed information about SDA can be found on the NDIS website  –  https://www.ndis.gov.au/providers/housing-and-living-supports-and-services/specialist-disability-accommodation
